At Key Stage 5, students have the opportunity to complete one of two different GCE level courses in Textiles Technology or Product Design. All of these courses follow the AQA Exam Board Specifications.
The AS course is assessed as two units;
- The coursework element, which is worth 50% of the total AS course. The
students have to design and make an artefact in 50 hours. - The examination element, which is based on a working knowledge of
materials and components, manufacturing techniques and working characteristics.
The A2 course is assessed as two units;
- The coursework element, which is worth 50% of the total A2 course. The students
have to design and make an artefact in 60 hours. - The examination element, which is worth 50% of the total A” course. It is based on
a working knowledge of industrial awareness, product sustainability and the work
of various designers and their contribution to different design movements.
