Key Stage 3 Food Technology is taught in a block rotation with the rest of the technology subjects.
We currently offer Food Technology as an option to take at GCSE in Years 10 and 11.

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Food and Cookery
This course involves students completing 4 units of work.
Unit 1 - Preparing to Cook. This unit is an internally assessed one in which students will have to complete a portfolio of evidence against a specific brief.
Unit 2 - Understanding Food. This unit in an internally assessed one in which students will have to complete a portfolio of evidence against a specific brief.
Unit 3 - Exploring Balanced Diets. This unit is worth 25% of the overall grade and is an externally set and assessed exam.
Unit 4 - Plan and Produce. This is an internally set and assessed unit in which students produce dishes in response to a brief and create a portfolio of evidence.

GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition (AQA Exam Board)
This course is 50% exam and 50% Non Exam Assessment (NEA).
There are two NEA's, the first is a Food Investigation task, this involves an investigation into the functional working properties of food and a 1500-2000 word written report which is worth 15% overall. This NEA is completed within a maximum of 10 hours.
The second NEA is a Food Preparation task. This involves the students planning, preparing, cooking and presenting a final menu of three dishes catered around a specific task. This NEA is completed within a maximum of 20 hours.
